Launch of SUGAR SMART at Cambridge United
On Saturday 17th February we launched SUGAR SMART Cambridge at Cambridge United’s Abbey Road. Visitors and fans attending the home game were invited to get involved and take on a SUGAR SMART challenge. We had great fun talking about the campaign, giving out free healthy snacks and also got up to some silly antics on the pitch with U’s mascot Marvin the Moose.
Family cooking workshops
As part of the SUGAR SMART Cambridge campaign we’ve been running free cookery workshops for families. In January we ran session focused on reducing sugar content and cooking more fresh fruit and vegetables. We’re planning more workshops so if you’re interested in taking part please get in touch on firstname.lastname@example.org
Young filmmakers project
Budding young filmmakers are currently working with Oblique Arts on a project themed around the dangers of too much sugar. More information about this coming soon.
As well as sharing information and encouraging more organisations to get involved during 2018, our activities include work with sports and leisure centres to encourage healthier vending machine choices for customers. We have information packs about how organisations can help their customers make healthy choices. There is also a great range or resources on the National SUGAR SMART website at www.sugarsmartuk.org
Anyone can pledge to become SUGAR SMART and we want as many organisations and individuals as possible to get involved. Connect with us on Facebook or Twitter to keep up to date #SUGARSMARTCambridge We’d love to hear from you so please get in touch to find out more!
