Centre at St Paul’s

1513678_1402297116747151_2942364897728291452_nSt Paul’s Church on Hills Road has a long tradition of hospitality with a focus on delicious, nutritious, freshly-cooked meals at very low cost for members of the local community.

On Mondays there is a Simple Supper at 6pm (more info here) cooked by a volunteer for the community, which is attended by a number of people at risk of homelessness. The Thursday lunch club (for vulnerable adults, details here) has been running for 10 years and includes outings. Friday lunch at 12.30 is for older people (info here). On Saturdays the Food Cycle Saturday Lunch provides a free meal cooked by volunteers from food that would otherwise have been wasted.

It is such a lovely atmosphere. People are so friendly; it is such a welcoming place. I am on my own and it is lovely to spend time with others and have such a lovely meal” (Members of the Friday lunch group)

St Paul’s is also developing an ecogarden, growing veg and plants to attract bees and aiming to become an ecocongregation.
