GM crops have been promoted as a solution to feeding a growing global population in the face of a changing climate and changing consumption patterns. But their development and use remains highly controversial, with many countries placing restrictions or bans on their use, and citizens calling for labelling of foods containing GMOs.
Our understanding of genetically modified crops is not always well-informed, and fears about the threat to our health and the environment abound. What is the truth about GM crops and why are they so widely feared?
