Granola

They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so it is important that you find a healthy, energy-packed, cheap and sustainable one! This recipe for granola makes 15 servings and can be stored for up to a month. The recipe includes only natural sweeteners, meaning that it tastes good, but is better for your health. You can easily adapt the granola depending on your personal preferences and what you have left in your cupboard!

Ingredients

2 tbsp vegetable oil

125ml maple syrup

2 tbsp honey

1 tsp vanilla extract

300g rolled oats

50g sunflower seeds

4 tbsp sesame seeds

50g pumpkin seeds

100g flaked almond

100g dried berries

50g desiccated coconut

Method

  1. Heat the oven to 150’C
  2. Mix the oil, maple syrup, honey and vanilla in a large bowl
  3. Tip in all the remaining ingredients, except the dried fruit and coconut, and mix well
  4. Tip the granola onto two baking sheets and spread evenly
  5. Bake for 15 minutes in the preheated oven, then mix in the coconut and dried fruit
  6. Return to the oven and bake for 10-15 mins more
  7. Remove and scrape onto a flat tray to cool
  8. Serve with cold milk or yogurt
