Swim the Cam! Sponsor Cambridge Food Hub!

On Saturday the 23rd of July a group of intrepid swimmers are going to do a sponsored swim in the river Cam to raise money and awareness for the Cambridge Sustainable Food Hub project.
The Swim
The Swim is taking place on Saturday the 23rd of July, starting at 11 am. Swimmers will enter the Cam at the famous ‘Byron’s Pool’ in Grantchester, then swim through Grantchester Meadows and Newnham and on to the finishing point at Sheep’s Green, just off Fen Causeway, where there will be a little party. The total distance is 3.8km (2.5 miles).

Would you like to sponsor a swimmer?
If you would like to sponsor any of the swimmers or the event in general, just send us an email stating the amount you would like to pledge (duncan@cofco.uk). Alternatively, all participants will have their own sponsorship forms. You can donate online via JustGiving.

Would you like to participate?
Experienced swimmers are being invited to join in this exciting challenge. You can enter as an individual or as a team (with work colleagues, for example). We ask that any participating swimmers endeavour to raise at least £100 in sponsorship for the Food Hub. We would also be happy for you to split your sponsorship money if you also wish to raise money for a charity or cause of your choice. To register as a participant please read the ‘Health and Safety Guidelines’ document and then complete the Application form and email to duncan@cofco.co.uk. Once your application has been accepted you will be sent a sponsorship form, a free ‘Swim the Cam’ swimming cap (yours to keep after the swim) and further information about the event.

Please come to the finish line party
If you would like to come along to the party at the finish line you would be very welcome, and it would be fantastic to have a nice crowd of people to give the swimmers a good reception as they complete the challenge. The party will be at Sheep’s Green at midday on the 23rd of July. There will be local street food vendors at the event, perfect for a spot of lunch.
It would also be lovely to have a little support along the way to motivate the swimmers and cheer us along. There are several points along the route where you can access the banks of the Cam to spectate.

Volunteers Wanted
We are looking for people to volunteer to help out on the day. In particular we are looking for safety marshals who can position themselves at regular intervals along the route. If you can spare an hour or two on the 23rd of July we’d love to hear from you. duncan@cofco.co.uk
