With summer nearly here, Cambridge Sustainable Food has a whole host of exciting volunteer opportunities for you to get involved with!
How to get involved
We have stalls at several events throughout June and July to raise awareness of the relationship between food, health and the environment.
If you can spare 2+ hours on one of the days listed below then we would love to hear from you! We particularly need help with Strawberry Fair and Arbury Carnival.
- Strawberry Fair, Saturday 3rd June
- Arbury Carnival, Saturday 10th June
- Abbey Big Lunch, Sunday 11th June
- Chesterton Festival, Saturday 17th June
- Colville Road, Thursday 13th July
At all these events, we will be giving away free tasters, carrying out surveys as well as putting on activities for all ages. We will also be promoting the WWII Rationing Challenge 2017 and encourage volunteers on the day to embrace the fashions of the 1940s! Find your inspiration here.
Are you keen to put your culinary skills to work? We are looking for volunteers who can help cook up some tasty wartime treats for us to give away at our stalls. These can be made in advanced and freezed by us (any expenditure will be reimbursed). We will provide the recipes!
WWII Rationing Challenge
Cambridge Sustainable Food would like to invite you all to our launch event for the WWII Rationing Challenge 2017 – a great opportunity to discover the links between rationing of the past and a healthy, sustainable diet for the future.
We welcome you all to the launch event on Monday 12th of June for an evening of talks, displays, short films and food tasters. It will be a great opportunity to prepare yourself for the challenge and pick up your very own ration book.
