Launch: Cambridge Sustainable Food Pledge and Award Scheme for Businesses
02/03/2017 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Please join us at our relaunch of our sustainable food award for businesses.
The Cambridge Sustainable Food Pledge for Businesses is a free award, which is open to all food businesses in and around Cambridge. The Award was successfully piloted during the last year (with funding from Cambridge City Council), and at this event you will be able hear the results of the pilot scheme with the opportunity to talk to businesses who took part in the first stage.
Local food businesses play a vital role in creating a Sustainable Food City and we are very keen to work in partnership with them on this issue. Customers are increasingly asking questions about where their food comes from and whether it is ethically produced.
What will the relaunch involve?
We are delighted to have Theresa Marteau, Director of the Behaviour and Health Research Unit, University of Cambridge, as our keynote speaker. Professor Marteau will talk about Changing our Behaviour to achieve Sustainable Diets. (This will cover both health and environmental sustainability and will describe ongoing research within the University to deliver behaviour change.)
The afternoon will also include:
- several short presentations, including how to fulfil other award criteria (Sustainable Restaurant Associations’ Food Made Good scheme; Bio-bean; ‘Healthier Options’ scheme; the Living Wage; update on the Cambridge Food Hub)
- information tables where businesses can talk to experts and discuss other aspects of the award, such as environmental sustainability, food fairness, food waste
This event is primarily aimed at local food businesses, but we are more than happy for other people interested in food sustainability to attend too! Just please do let us know if you will be attending so that we can provide enough refreshments for all attendees.
