Each school holiday, the Cambridge holiday lunch programme takes place, providing meals and activities for disadvantaged families at different venues across the city. 

We’re always looking for volunteers to help

• Prepare holiday lunches at our kitchen or at venues, guided by our Holiday Lunch Cookery Leads

• Drive and deliver lunches to events

• Assist with holiday lunch events across the city - getting the event set up, greeting families, serving lunches, helping run activities and clearing away

This June we will be taking our climate diet stall to community events across the city, raising awareness of the impact the food we eat has on our planet and we're looking for volunteers to help out! 

This autumn, we’ll be preparing, delivering and serving meals at October half term holiday lunch events, a series of Cost of Living Support Pop Ups and community meals across Cambridge and we’re looking for volunteers to help make it happen.

We are looking for volunteers to help with data entry processing. This will involve you helping input responses from one of our questionnaires.

We are looking for volunteers this upcoming February half-term, 14th February - 18th February, to help out with the holiday lunch programme.

We are looking for volunteers to help at our Community Food Redistribution Centre in the mornings between 9am and 12pm on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays - 2 needed for each day.

This will involve sorting surplus food to go out to the Community Food Hubs across the city.

We are in need of some volunteers to support the community food work this Christmas!

As part of our Christmas partnership project we are in need of volunteers to help with preparing and delivering hamper and veg bags.

This October we are holding a two stalls focused on promoting the uptake of a climate and planet friendly diet, part of the Eating for our Future: Climate Diet Campaign.

We are looking for volunteers to help out on the stalls on 2nd October and 9th October. They will be held at Cambridge Market Square, between 11am - 3pm.

Could you spare a couple of hours to put up posters around town publicising our exciting and upcoming Eat for our Future campaign?

During September we are holding a variety of Eat for our Future stalls across South Cambridgeshire, focused on promoting the uptake of a climate and planet friendly diet, part of the Eating for our Future: Climate Diet Campaign.

Volunteer tasks will include helping set up the stall, greeting visitors, helping give out small food samples, and helping close down the stall. Jobs will vary depending on time and shift.

This summer Cambridge Sustainable Food will again be involved in preparing and distributing holiday lunches to families of school children.

Activities and in-person lunches will also be held in a number of locations around Cambridge. We will be looking for volunteers to help out on various dates throughout July and August.

We are looking for drivers to join our team of volunteers collecting surplus food from local supermarkets and would be delighted if anyone would like to join the team to do collections on the days that suit them.

Each weekday morning one volunteer collects surplus food from local supermarkets and drops it off to Buchan St. centre where it is then redistributed to the food hubs. Surplus food can be collected any time from 7am and dropped to Buchan St. from 9am. Volunteers are alerted of the stores which will have food available the evening before they are due to be collected.

Over the half-term break we have a range of volunteer opportunities to help with the preparation and delivery of the Holiday Lunches.

These are fun cookery workshops aimed at local families, engaging them in new cooking skills and supporting them to cook from scratch.

Throughout these courses, various nutritious vegetarian meals will be cooked, with informative cookery booklets for families to take home. This will help and teach families with budgeting healthy meals, selecting varied low-cost ingredients, preparing meals and reducing food waste.

Workshops run for 4 weeks, every Thursday from 3:30-6 pm.

We are looking for volunteers to help us run these workshops, where you will help setting up, cooking, talking about food issues and food prep.

These are fun cookery workshops aimed at local families, engaging them in new cooking skills and supporting them to cook from scratch.

Throughout these courses, various nutritious vegetarian meals will be cooked, with informative cookery booklets for families to take home. This will help and teach families with budgeting healthy meals, selecting varied low-cost ingredients, preparing meals and reducing food waste.

Workshops run for 5 weeks, every Wednesday from 3-5:45 pm.

We are looking for volunteers to help us run these workshops, where you will help setting up, cooking, talking about food issues and food prep.

These are fun cookery workshops aimed at local families, engaging them in new cooking skills and supporting them to cook from scratch.

Throughout these courses, various nutritious vegetarian meals will be cooked, with informative cookery booklets for families to take home. This will help and teach families with budgeting healthy meals, selecting varied low-cost ingredients, preparing meals and reducing food waste.

Workshops run every Tuesday for 5 weeks from 3-6 pm
