Beginner Growing Tips from CoFarm Cambridge

We asked our friends at CoFarm Cambridge for some tips to help beginner gardeners. Luckily Pete, one of the two expert horticulturalists who lead the team of volunteers, was able to spare a little time on a busy Sunday morning at the Farm to help with our questions. Over four informative videos Pete covers a range of topics including when to grow, spacing and what compost to use - discover these excellent beginner tips in the videos below.

In episode one Pete shares his beginner advice and discusses why April is the perfect time to start growing! It might be a bit windy in places in these videos - we asked Pete while he was out growing.

In episode three Pete shares his beginners advice on organic pest control and the importance of using barriers.

In the second episode Pete shares his beginner advice on giving your vegetables the space they need to grow and how to get the best from your crops, as well as highlighting the importance of using peat free compost.

In this final episode we asked Pete for his advice on choosing which beginner vegetables to grow, especially when space is limited. Did you know that in Cambridge chillies can actually be grown outdoors?

You can find all of Pete’s videos plus much more exciting Cambridge Sustainable Food content on our YouTube channel - make sure to subscribe to catch all our videos when they are first released!
